The sensing head is fitted with an extending handle to reach all parts of the kiln. The instrument uses a back-lit LCD to display the thickness. Designed to measure the lining thickness whilst ignoring both metallic inclusions in the bricks, and variations in the thickness of the kiln outer shell.

Unlike drilling, it is clean, silent and significantly reduces the danger from fractured bricks.

The system is also suitable for monolithic materials and other applications such as cyclone linings.
