MAG-Link MAG-Link is a software package that allows complete control of an MPI bench with minimal intervention by the operator. When a technique has been entered and approved by a Level III technician, it can be used to control the bench. A 3-button pendant is all that is required to complete any job. Reports are printed as to the status of the test, and provides full traceability. Benches with thyristor current control or rotary transformer current control can be accommodated. All Baugh & Weedon benches fitted with our proprietary electronic control system, are capable of supporting MAG-Link, which includes Swinging Field (multi-directional magnetising) benches. It is also possible, following a full technical appraisal, to supply MAG-Link for use on other makes of bench, which must be modified to include the Baugh & Weedon electronic control system. A standard PC with flat screen, in close proximity to the bench, is all that is required. A bar-code reader can also be used to input lengthy part numbers accurately. Techniques are created/edited on the Technique Manager screen. Up to 24 steps are possible within each technique, and each step has up to 4 lines of free text as a description/instruction to the operator. Images can also be assigned to each step, which can be a digital image, a drawing or a scanned image, as MAG-Link accepts a variety of image formats. Level II confirmation and Level III approval must be made before MAG-Link can use a technique. MAG-Link supports multiple benches, and as such, the bench parameters change accordingly, as the bench selection is made. MAG-Link will even tell you when the bench is due for calibration and will prompt you before the bench is used. Jobs are created on the Job Manager screen, and when saved under the current job number, it is ready to be used. Up to 15 operators can be accommodated, each with their own password. The operator uses the 3-button pendant to step through the technique, which allows any step to be repeated and components to be accepted or rejected. When a job is complete, a report can be printed at any time and the job archived for future reference. MAG-Link is flexible, the labels that are used on the screens and reports can be changed to accommodate the terminology of the user, or even changed to another language. Multiple benches are supported and as the capability of each bench alters when selected, so MAG-Link changes the Technique Manager screen accordingly. This ensures that a technique cannot select a function that the bench does not support. Although the controlling PC must be close
to the bench, MAG-Link will also work over a network. This allows
resources, such as images, to be obtained from the network. In addition to
this, thyristor controlled benches can have their techniques created on
any PC that is running MAG-Link, then simply copy them across to the
controlling PC. Techniques that are created for rotary transformer
controlled benches, can only be written on the PC that controls the
bench. |
