DRY DEVELOPER CABINETS / POWDER STORMS
A dry developer cabinet, or powder storm unit, is normally located at the end of a liquid penetrant process line, and applies developer powder prior to inspection. Generally: Baugh & Weedon NDT cabinets consists of a stainless steel tank and box section supporting framework. The bottom of the tank is formed into a 'V' shape to allow the powder to concentrate at the centre of the cabinet. Above this 'V' section, a grill is fitted, onto which the components are placed. Powder can be manually charged, or automatically injected by a system which operates only when the cabinet is closed. The powder is dispersed within the total volume of the cabinet during operation. A powder collection unit provides extraction for the remaining air-born powder inside the cabinet, when the developer process is complete. This unit is located either to the rear, or to one side of the cabinet, as space allows. The air-born powder is retained on filters in the collection unit, until it is transferred to an internal pot for disposal. Top Opening, Front Opening
